PHYSICAL COMEDY
For some, Physical Comedy is slapstick or mime. Not for Brian Foley. For him, physical comedy is a game that pushes the boundaries far beyond what is expected between performer and audience. Masters of the art like Spymonkey, Peter Pitofsky or Hilary Chaplain have built careers in comedy clubs, theaters, and international festival stages performing a unique style of comedy that references the past, but breaks new ground.
Brian Foley has toured nationally and internationally as an award-winning vaudevillian, physical comedian, and clown. He is an Associate Artistic Director of the World Clown Festival, and Director of Theater and Circus from New York who has relocated to the valley. He has created original comedy material for cruise lines, national tours, and theme park shows, and he has been a teacher of clown, physical theatre, and character creation for NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, ASU’s Theater Department, and the Circus School of Arizona.
